ECU Remap Terms and Conditions

By submitting a file, booking a service, or requesting any ECU / TCU software modification from PRO ECU TUNE, you automatically acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:

GENERAL TERMS

1. I am the legal owner of the vehicle presented to PRO ECU TUNE.

2. I have been verbally informed about all modifications, and I agree to proceed.

3. PRO ECU TUNE may perform a diagnostic check before starting any work and reserves the right to refuse to perform modifications if mechanical or software issues are detected.

4. If the ECU / TCU has been previously modified by another tuner or third party, PRO ECU TUNE may refuse to work over the existing software. In this case, PRO ECU TUNE may provide a stock (original) file from the manufacturer’s database for a fee of £20.

5. If previous modifications have hidden or masked existing faults, those faults may reappear once the ECU / TCU is returned to stock. I accept full responsibility for diagnosing and repairing these faults.

6. In the case of a Virtual Read (VR), the existing ECU / TCU file will be completely erased and replaced with a modified file. Once erased, the original file cannot be recovered under any circumstances.

7. If the ECU / TCU must be physically opened and remapped in BOOT mode, PRO ECU TUNE will reseal it to the best of their ability, but a 100% factory-level seal cannot always be guaranteed. PRO ECU TUNE will not be liable for any future damage caused by water or moisture entering the ECU / TCU after remapping.

If BOOT mode access is required, an additional fee between £60 and £120 will apply, depending on the ECU / TCU design and the level of difficulty involved.

8. Some modifications are intended strictly for off-road, motorsport, or track use only.

9. I authorise PRO ECU TUNE to overwrite my ECU / TCU with modified files.

10. All modified and original files will be securely stored by PRO ECU TUNE for a minimum of 12 calendar months. After this period, files may be permanently deleted without notice. While PRO ECU TUNE will make reasonable efforts to retain files for longer where possible, long-term storage is not guaranteed.

11. If I request to return the ECU / TCU to its stock configuration after the remap, PRO ECU TUNE reserves the right to charge a fee for this service.

12. All power and torque gains quoted or shown on the website: “https://www.proecutune.com/tuning-specs” are estimates based on prior testing and experience. Actual results depend on the vehicle’s condition, weather, and fuel quality.

13. Fuel economy improvements are average expectations and vary due to factors such as driving style, tyre pressure, fuel grade, temperature, and altitude. PRO ECU TUNE cannot be held responsible for lower-than-expected MPG results.

14. I choose to have my vehicle remapped entirely at my own risk. PRO ECU TUNE does not provide any warranty on the vehicle itself.

15. Remapping may expose or accelerate underlying issues that already exist within the engine or transmission. No refunds or liability claims can be made against PRO ECU TUNE for such failures.

16. In the unlikely event of ECU / TCU failure during the remapping process caused by external circumstances (e.g., power outage, voltage spike, corrupted communication, vehicle electrical faults, previously damaged ECU / TCU, ECU / TCU that have been previously modified or tuned by other parties, ECU / TCU that have been incorrectly written or accessed with other tuning tools), PRO ECU TUNE shall not be held responsible or liable for any associated repair or replacement costs.

PRO ECU TUNE will make reasonable efforts to assist in resolving the situation. This may include helping to source a suitable replacement ECU / TCU, assisting with ordering the correct unit, and performing the necessary software adaptation required for the replacement ECU / TCU to function with the vehicle.

I agree that any costs related to replacement ECU / TCU, parts, shipping, or third-party services will remain my responsibility. Where possible, PRO ECU TUNE may carry out the necessary software adaptation for the replacement ECU / TCU without additional labour charge, provided that no external costs are incurred by PRO ECU TUNE.

I understand that resolving such situations may take time depending on parts availability and delivery times. I agree to remain reasonable and cooperative during this process, and I acknowledge that the vehicle may remain with PRO ECU TUNE or be collected and returned once the replacement ECU / TCU becomes available. The process may take several working days, typically up to one week.

17. If a modified file is suspected to be faulty, PRO ECU TUNE will review and, if confirmed faulty, will supply a corrected version at no extra charge. PRO ECU TUNE alone will determine whether a file is faulty; third-party assessments are not accepted.

18. Where parts must be removed to access the ECU / TCU or OBD port, PRO ECU TUNE will exercise reasonable care but is not liable for pre-existing or incidental damage (for example, cracked plastic panels, brittle clips, or corroded screws).

19. Difficult access to the ECU / TCU (subject to on-site assessment and agreement) or Removing an ECU / TCU security cage (to access the ECU / TCU in BENCH / BOOT mode) incurs a fee of £60.

20. If the vehicle is under manufacturer or dealer warranty, it is my responsibility to check whether a remap will void the warranty. PRO ECU TUNE will not be held liable for any loss of warranty.

21. To the best of my knowledge, the vehicle is free of any pre-existing mechanical issues that may interfere with the remapping process. PRO ECU TUNE carries out Pre-Tuning Health Checks (test drive, visual inspection, full diagnostic scanning and datalogging where supported by the ECU / TCU) before commencing work, but this doesn’t always show every fault in the vehicle. It is my responsibility to disclose any such issues prior to commencement of work.

22. For vehicles with automatic transmissions, PRO ECU TUNE will perform a diagnostic check on the TCU but accepts no responsibility for any gearbox or clutch-related issues that occur after the remap. I understand that manual clutch slip or gearbox wear may be more noticeable following a performance increase. It is my responsibility to ensure the transmission has been serviced according to the recommendations of the gearbox manufacturer (not the dealership) and is in fully working order.

23. PRO ECU TUNE strongly recommends that I test drive the vehicle after the remap is complete. If I decline or am unable to perform the test drive with the PRO ECU TUNE agent present, PRO ECU TUNE cannot be held liable for issues found later. If a follow-up visit is required, I agree to pay £60 / hour labour.

24. In rare cases, particularly on some vehicles from the VAG group, an ECU / TCU remap may result in the loss of certain ECU / TCU codings such as Cruise Control or Start/Stop, especially where these features have been retrofitted or where the ECU / TCU has been replaced and is not the original unit fitted to the vehicle from the factory. The likelihood of this occurring is very low (estimated around 1–2%). PRO ECU TUNE does not provide ECU / TCU coding services and accepts no responsibility for any loss of such codings following a remap. Furthermore, PRO ECU TUNE will not be liable for any costs incurred if I choose to have these codings reinstated by a third party after the remap.

25. All payments must be made immediately after service completion and / or test drive. The vehicle and keys will not be released until full payment is received, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

EMISSIONS, LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY & COMPLIANCE

26. All emission-related modifications (DPF, EGR, CAT, SCR/AdBlue, GPF/PPF delete or deactivation) are designed strictly for off-road, motorsport, or closed-circuit use only.

27. I have been clearly informed by PRO ECU TUNE that using a vehicle with altered or disabled emission control systems on public roads is illegal under UK and EU environmental legislation.

28. I understand that driving a vehicle with emission systems removed or disabled on public roads may lead to fines, penalties, MOT failure, and possible prosecution by authorities.

29. I fully accept personal and legal responsibility for any penalties or enforcement actions that result from using the vehicle on public roads following such modifications.

30. PRO ECU TUNE and its agents shall not be held liable for any MOT failures, fines, vehicle impoundments, or prosecutions resulting from emission-related modifications being used on-road.

31. If my vehicle is brought to PRO ECU TUNE for any emission-related work, it is my responsibility to arrange transportation (e.g., recovery truck or trailer) after the service.

32. I understand that removing or modifying any of the following:

  • Catalytic Converter (CAT)

  • Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)

  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)

  • Gasoline/Petrol Particulate Filter (GPF/PPF)

  • Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR / AdBlue)

where such components were fitted from factory, will result in an MOT failure and render the vehicle unfit for public-road use.

33. I confirm that I have been informed that emission-related modifications are not permitted on vehicles used on public roads.

34. I confirm that I will not operate the vehicle on public roads after any emission-related modifications have been performed.

35. I accept all penalties, liabilities, and consequences for any future road use contrary to this declaration.

ECU / TCU DUPLICATION, ECU / TCU REPLACEMENT and FLOODED ECU / TCU

36. In cases of ECU / TCU duplication, cloning, or replacement, the following terms apply:

a) ECU / TCU Condition Assessment:
If an ECU / TCU is duplicated or cloned, PRO ECU TUNE, the customer, or a third party may inspect the original ECU / TCU to determine whether it is faulty. If this assessment is performed by the customer or a third party, PRO ECU TUNE is not responsible for the accuracy of their diagnosis. Should the issue persist after duplication due to an incorrect assessment, the full service fee remains payable and no refund shall be due.

b) Customer-Supplied Replacement ECU / TCU:
If I (the customer) provide a replacement ECU / TCU, I confirm that it is free from physical damage, fully functional, and compatible with my vehicle.
If the supplied ECU / TCU proves to be faulty, incorrect, or incompatible, I accept full responsibility and agree to pay a £60 service fee for time and handling.
PRO ECU TUNE will not be held liable for non-start, DTC errors, or malfunctions caused by an incorrect or damaged customer-supplied ECU / TCU.

c) ECU / TCU Supplied by PRO ECU TUNE:
If PRO ECU TUNE provides the replacement ECU / TCU, it will be supplied in working condition and compatible to the best of their knowledge.
If an ECU / TCU supplied by PRO ECU TUNE is found to be incorrect, incompatible, or faulty, PRO ECU TUNE will handle the return and refund at no cost to me and will not charge any service fee.
PRO ECU TUNE does not offer a warranty on ECU / TCU and shall not be responsible for future electronic or mechanical failures related to the duplication procedure.

d) Flooded / Water-Damaged ECU / TCU:
If the original ECU / TCU is water or fuel-damaged (“flooded ECU / TCU”) and data cannot be recovered, duplication is impossible.
In this case, an IMMO-OFF service may be required to allow vehicle start-up.
If the replacement ECU / TCU (supplied by the customer) is faulty, wrong, or incompatible, or if the car fails to start due to incompatibility, the full service fee remains payable.
PRO ECU TUNE is not responsible for future issues caused by damaged or incompatible ECU / TCU supplied by the customer.

e) Refunds & Disputes:
If the service cannot be completed due to an ECU / TCU being faulty or incompatible (and it was supplied by the customer), no refund will be issued.
If PRO ECU TUNE supplied the wrong or faulty ECU / TCU, PRO ECU TUNE will replace or refund at no cost to the customer.
Any disputes or refund requests will be handled strictly under these written terms.

INSURANCE DISCLOSURE

37. I understand that performance modifications such as ECU / TCU remapping may need to be disclosed to my insurance provider under UK insurance law.

38. It is my responsibility to notify my insurer if required by my policy.

39. PRO ECU TUNE will not be held liable for any invalidated or voided insurance claims resulting from failure to disclose vehicle modifications.

ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS

40. Depending on the make and / or model of your vehicle, certain emission solutions may require specific plugs or sensors to be disconnected. PRO ECU TUNE will disconnect these only if easily accessible. If they are not, I must perform this task myself as advised. Reconnecting them in the future may cause fault codes or warning lights for which PRO ECU TUNE accepts no responsibility.

41. All quoted prices for emission-related services cover ECU software modification only and do not include any hardware removal, blanking plates, or physical installations.

42. Any prices quoted verbally over the phone are valid only on the day they are given and only if the booking has been secured by paying the booking fee by 7:00 PM on the same day.

Any prices quoted in writing are valid for a period of one (1) calendar month from the date of quotation. After the calendar month has elapsed, all quotes expire and a new price quotation will be required, which may be different from the original one.

To keep the quoted price, the work must be carried out within that one-month period, not just discussed or planned.

43. Any verbal statements that contradict this document are invalid unless confirmed in writing by PRO ECU TUNE.

44. PRO ECU TUNE reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time and without notice.

If you do not agree with these terms and conditions, please do not proceed with the service, booking, or file submission.
